Consume Less, Impact More
Our overall sustainability goal is to reverse the trend of the 20th century to live beyond the capacity of our natural environment. We work to accomplish this by implementing a variety of programs. Since 2002, the Foundation has worked with Forest City to support their green building programs. Stapleton today is one of the largest “built-green” communities in North America.
Our primary program focused on sustainable goals is the Northeast Transportation Connections (NETC). This innovative organization is a transportation management association (TMA) – a group that works to build sustainability by reducing the number of single-occupant cars and trucks on the road. This decreases pollution, cuts down on traffic, and helps our neighbors live healthy, active lives. NETC partners with the Regional Transportation District (RTD), the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), the City of Denver, the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), Walk2Connect, the Denver Police Department (DPD), Denver Public Schools (DPS), and others to create and maintain programs for walking, biking, public transit, carpooling, and carsharing.
